Advanced Facial Treatments After Care

Facial Aftercare Instructions

Thank you for choosing our facial treatment. This procedure is designed to cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin, leaving it refreshed and balanced. To achieve optimal results and support proper skin recovery, please follow the instructions below carefully.

What to Do After Your Facial

  • Use gentle products.
For the first 24 to 48 hours, cleanse and moisturize using mild, fragrance-free products only. Avoid ingredients such as alcohol, fragrance, acids, or exfoliating agents. Gently pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

  • Keep the skin hydrated.
Apply a suitable moisturizer as recommended by your provider. Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration from within and assist the skin’s healing process.

  • Protect your skin from the sun.
Your skin will be more sensitive to UV exposure after treatment. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning and reapply as needed. Limit direct sun exposure whenever possible.

  • Avoid touching or picking.
Do not touch, squeeze, or pick at your skin. This can introduce bacteria, cause irritation, or lead to scarring. Allow the skin to heal naturally.

  • Resume your normal skincare gradually.
After 48 hours, you may return to your regular skincare regimen unless otherwise directed. Continue to use products recommended by your provider for best long-term results.

What to Avoid for 24–48 Hours

  • Heavy or full-coverage makeup

  • Exfoliating products (scrubs, acids, retinoids, or enzymes)

  • Hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms

  • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds

  • Strenuous exercise or excessive sweating

  • Facial waxing, threading, or chemical treatments

Expected Post-Treatment Reactions

It is common to experience mild redness, sensitivity, or a feeling of tightness following a facial. Some individuals may notice slight purging (minor breakouts) as impurities are released. These effects are temporary and should resolve within a few days.

If redness, irritation, or discomfort persists beyond 72 hours, please contact our office for further evaluation.

Ongoing Skin Care Recommendations

  • Schedule facials every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain healthy skin and support consistent results.

  • Protect your skin daily with sunscreen, even on cloudy days.

  • Maintain a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and get adequate rest to promote overall skin wellness.

If you have any concerns or unusual reactions after your treatment, please contact our clinic. We are here to ensure your comfort, safety, and satisfaction.

Dermaplaning Aftercare Instructions

Your skin has been exfoliated and resurfaced through dermaplaning, a procedure that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair to promote a smoother, brighter complexion. Following proper aftercare is essential to protect the skin and maintain your results.

What to Do After Treatment

  • Cleanse gently.
Use a mild, non-foaming cleanser to keep the skin clean. Avoid products containing fragrance, alcohol, or active ingredients.

  • Soothe and hydrate.
Apply a soothing serum or hyaluronic acid to help restore moisture and calm the skin. Follow with a gentle, hydrating moisturizer as needed.

  • Protect from sun exposure.
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning. Reapply throughout the day as needed. Limit direct sun exposure whenever possible.

  • Maintain overall hydration.
Drink plenty of water to support skin healing and maintain optimal hydration levels.

What to Avoid for 48–72 Hours

  • Makeup application (preferably avoid for at least 24 hours)

  • Exfoliating acids, retinoids, or physical scrubs

  • Direct sun exposure and tanning beds

  • Facial waxing, shaving, or other exfoliating treatments

  • Heat exposure from saunas, steam rooms, or intense exercise

Expected Reactions

Mild redness, sensitivity, or tightness may occur and should resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Slight flaking may also be noticed as the skin renews itself. These effects are normal.

If you experience irritation, swelling, or discomfort lasting longer than 48 hours, contact your practitioner for evaluation.

Long-Term Care

Maintain regular use of sunscreen and a gentle skincare routine to preserve results. For continued improvement in skin texture and tone, dermaplaning can be performed every four to six weeks.

Chemical Peel Aftercare Instructions

Your skin has undergone a chemical exfoliation designed to improve texture, tone, and overall appearance. After a chemical peel, the skin is more sensitive and requires careful attention during the healing process. Following these guidelines will help ensure optimal results and reduce the risk of irritation or complications.

What to Do After Treatment

  • Keep the skin clean and protected.
Gently cleanse your skin with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser as recommended by your provider. Use lukewarm water and pat dry—do not rub or scrub.

  • Moisturize regularly.
Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to keep the skin soft and prevent dryness or flaking. Reapply as needed throughout the day to maintain comfort.

  • Protect from sun exposure.
Your skin will be more vulnerable to UV damage following a peel. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning and reapply every two hours if outdoors. Avoid direct sunlight whenever possible.

  • Allow the skin to peel naturally.
Some flaking or peeling is expected as part of the exfoliation process. Do not pick, peel, or rub the skin, as this may cause scarring or pigmentation changes.

  • Maintain hydration.
Drink plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet to support healthy skin recovery from within.

What to Avoid for 5–7 Days

  • Exfoliating products, including scrubs, acids (AHAs, BHAs), and retinoids

  • Active ingredients such as vitamin C or benzoyl peroxide

  • Hot water, steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs

  • Strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating

  • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds

  • Facial waxing, threading, or laser treatments

Expected Reactions

It is normal to experience mild redness, tightness, and dryness following a chemical peel. Peeling or flaking typically begins within two to three days and may last up to one week, depending on the strength of the peel. The skin underneath may appear pink or slightly tender during this period.

Do not apply heavy makeup until peeling has subsided and the skin has healed. Mineral-based products may be used if approved by your provider.

When to Contact Your Provider

If you experience excessive redness, swelling, burning, or signs of infection (such as pus, crusting, or severe discomfort), contact your provider immediately for assessment.

Long-Term Care

Continue using sunscreen daily and follow a consistent skincare routine recommended by your provider. Regular chemical peels, combined with proper home care, can significantly improve skin tone, texture, and clarity over time.

Microneedling Aftercare Instructions

Microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production through controlled micro-injury to the skin. Following these aftercare guidelines is critical for proper healing, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

Immediate Care

  • Allow the skin to rest.
Do not wash your face for at least 4 to 6 hours following treatment. This allows the microchannels in the skin to close naturally.

  • Use only recommended products.
Apply only the serums and moisturizers advised by your provider. Avoid unapproved products that could irritate the skin or interfere with healing.

  • Avoid makeup.
Do not apply makeup for at least 72 hours after treatment to prevent irritation and infection.

  • Maintain cleanliness.
Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid touching your face unnecessarily. Ensure that anything that comes into contact with your skin is clean.

What to Avoid for 3–5 Days

  • Retinoids, exfoliating acids, or other active skincare ingredients

  • Makeup and harsh skincare products

  • Excessive sweating, saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs

  • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds; always use SPF 30 or higher once permitted by your provider

Expected Reactions

Redness, mild swelling, tightness, and dryness are common for the first 24 to 72 hours. Some light flaking or peeling may occur as new skin regenerates. Do not pick, peel, or exfoliate manually.

If you experience prolonged redness, severe irritation, or signs of infection, contact your provider promptly.

Long-Term Care

Continue using sun protection daily and follow your provider’s recommendations for post-treatment skincare. For best results, a series of microneedling sessions spaced several weeks apart is typically recommended.
